Did you know that mental health disabilities include a wide range of conditions, such as anxiety disorders, mood disorders, and behavioural disorders? People may express these disabilities in different ways – some may appear tense or irritable, have difficulty making decisions, or react emotionally in ways that seem unexpected.

The Mississippi River Health Alliance (MRHA) proudly recognized staff, medical staff, and recent retirees during its 2026 Long Service Awards celebration held on June 3 at Almonte General Hospital.

Did you know that vision disabilities affect how clearly a person can see? Very few people are completely blind. Many experience limited vision—such as reduced peripheral or central vision—while others may only see shapes, outlines, or light direction.

Did you know that hearing loss can affect a person’s ability to distinguish certain frequencies, sounds, or words—and, like many disabilities, it varies widely in degree?

It's National AccessAbility Week (May 31 to June 6, 2026) – a time to highlight the importance of accessibility, inclusion and equal participation for everyone. Throughout the week, we’ll be sharing practical tips and information to help create more accessible spaces for all.

Each June, we proudly celebrate Pride Month and recognize the resilience, diversity and contributions of our Two-Spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, asexual and gender and sexually diverse (2SLGBTQIA+) neighbours. Pride is both a celebration of progress and a reminder that our work to build a safe, inclusive community for everyone continues in Mississippi Mills.

June marks National Indigenous History Month, a time for all of us in Mississippi Mills to pause, learn and honour the deep and enduring presence of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples on this land. It is also a time to celebrate the knowledge, cultures and contributions that continue to shape our shared future.
