Extended Heat Event this Week, Municipal Cooling Centres Open

Environment and Climate Change Canada is forecasting an extended heat event for the region this week.
Daytime temperatures will stay between 28–32°C, with Humidex values making it feel closer to 35–40°C. Please take care of yourself and those around you during this stretch of extreme heat.
Quick tips
- Limit direct exposure to sun and heat - wear loose, light-coloured clothing
- Keep blinds or shades closed; open windows only if it’s cooler outside than inside
- Use air conditioning or fans, or move to the coolest area of your home
- Drink water frequently—don’t wait until you’re thirsty
- Plan outdoor activities for early morning or evening when temperatures are lower
- If you work outdoors, watch for signs of heat exhaustion in yourself and coworkers and take breaks to hydrate
- Never leave people, especially children or pets, inside a parked vehicle, and check the vehicle to ensure no one is left behind
