Environment Canada continues to issue Special Air Quality statements for parts the region caused by wildfires in northwestern Ontario. Regularly check local weather forecasts and local air quality conditions using the Air Quality Health Index or special air quality statements.

Poor air quality is affecting our region due to smoke from active wildfires across the province.

Residents are encouraged to limit time outdoors and consider postponing or rescheduling strenuous outdoor activities, including sports, recreation and community events, until air quality improves.

Environment and Climate Change Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for our region, beginning late this afternoon and into the evening.

Mississippi Mills Fire Department (MMFD) has raised the burn risk to Level 4 (Extreme Risk – Supervised Campfires Only) due to current dry conditions. 

Environment Canada issued a heat warning this morning with hot and humid conditions expected to continue through most of the week.

The Municipality of Mississippi Mills will begin tree removal work in a small area of Gemmill Park in Almonte on Monday, July 13. The work is expected to be completed by the end of the week.

This work is required as part of the County Road 29 Watermain Project and will take place mainly along the access road to Well 6.

The postponed Canada Day fireworks display has been rescheduled to Thursday, July 30 at dusk at Gemmill Park in Almonte.

The Municipality has been informed that tree clearing will begin on Monday, July 6 at the Hilan Village development site on Carss Street.

The Mississippi Mills region is under another severe thunderstorm watch this afternoon into this evening.

The Municipality’s Roads and Public Works team continues to respond to the impacts of storm events over the past two days.
