Flags at municipal facilities have been lowered to half-mast in honour of the military services members who were killed or seriously injured following the fatal fire at a Canadian Forces Base near Wainwright, Alberta, on October 17.

Our annual book sale begins Friday, October 16! 

It promises to be the best ever with a huge variety of good quality books including: All genres, hard and soft cover, novels published between the late 19th and early 20th century, cooking, gardening, classics, first editions, books signed by the authors, romantasy books for youth, and a large children’s selection. Truly something for everyone. Prices are by donation except for rare books which will be individually priced.  

The Municipality’s annual sanitary sewer flushing and inspection program in Almonte will begin October 19, 2026, and is expected to be completed by mid-November.

This year, work will take place in the eastern portion of Almonte, north of the Mississippi River. Specifically, the work area is bounded by Ottawa Street and Main Street East to the north-west, Appleton Side Road to the north-east, Johanna Street to the south-east, and the Mississippi River to the south-west.
