It is with sadness that I share the news of the passing of Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh and spouse of Queen Elizabeth II, at the age of 99.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced, “the thoughts of Canadians are with Queen Elizabeth II and the members of the Royal Family as they mourn such a significant loss”.

The Municipality will be lowering all flags at municipal facilities as per the National Flag Policy from now until sunset on the day of the funeral to mark the death of Prince Philip.

Municipal Facilities are closed to the public as of April 8, 2021 at 4:30 pm

* This closure includes the Municipal Office, Almonte Old Town Hall, Community Centres, Tennis Courts, Basketball Courts, Frisbee Golf, Skate Board parks, and playground equipment.

All in-person services have been suspended for 4 weeks or until further notice. Municipal staff are available via phone or email.

On April 7, 2021 the Province enacted the Provincial Emergency and Stay-at-Home Order effective as of 12:01 am this morning.

This order requires people to remain at home except for essential purposes to help reduce the transmission of COVID-19 with the increased risks posed by the COVID 19 variants.
