The Mississippi Valley Conservation Authority (MVCA) is hosting a public information session on Monday, November 24 from 4-6 p.m.
It’s year 40 for the Angel Tree program in Lanark County and the surrounding area.
This year, the Family and Children’s Services of Lanark, Leeds and Grenville / Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Angel Tree program is starting off with a record 1,015 angels! The “angels,” assigned to trees, represent children directly affiliated with Family and Children’s Services and related programs. The goal is to provide a Christmas gift for each child. There will also be a selection of tags as an option of purchasing a gift card for a teen or groceries for a family.
A public hearing will be held virtually via Zoom on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at 4:30 p.m. to consider a proposed minor variance application under Section 45 of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, Chapter P.13.

Last night’s meeting opened with a presentation from Canadian Armed Forces Capt. Theodore Van Hezewyk as part of the National Veterans’ Week Speakers Program. He joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 1989 as a Mobile Support Equipment Operator and has served in Syria and Afghanistan. Capt. Van Hezewyk was posted to Ottawa in 2023 and now works with Radar and Control System as the technical advisor with Administration and Material Equipment Procurement. The National Veterans’ Week Speakers Program helps connect members of the Canadian Armed Forces with local groups so they can share their experiences and stories.
The Municipality of Mississippi Mills is excited to partner with the Ingenium Foundation and the Canada Science and Technology Museum to bring STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) to our youth!
The 2025 portion of the Five Span Bridge rehabilitation project has been completed.
KB Civil Constructors Inc. was contracted by Lanark County in to undertake substructure rehabilitation work on the historic bridge. That work included removal and repouring of the existing concrete pier jackets and repointing deteriorated masonry joints on the bridge piers.
A public meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at 6 p.m. to consider a proposed Official Plan Amendment under Section 22 of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, Chapter P.13.
Carbon Monoxide (CO) Awareness Week runs November 1-7, 2025 and the Mississippi Mills Fire Department (MMFD) is reminding everyone to recognize the health risks and danger CO poses with tips, suggestions and advice on how to protect your family and stay safe.
