As of June 9, 2023, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry has included Mississippi Mills under a Restricted Fire Zone Order for the region. This means all burning permits within the Municipality are suspended until the RFZ is lifted.

Power outage

Planned Power Outage - June 8, 2023

Hydro One has notified the Municipality of a planned power outage Thursday, June 8 from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. for repairs. The outage will affect some Ramsay Township residents, as well as the entire Town of Carleton Place and Beckwith Township.

Last night, Council recognized Mississippi Mills Mechanic Ben Kipp, who placed first in the Lanark County Truck Roadeo, held by the Lanark County Road Supervision Association on April 27. The competition tests the skills of municipal equipment operators through a series of obstacles. Ben scored 334 points out of a possible 340. OPP Media Release - Fatal Highway 7 Collision

The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision.

On June 6, 2023, just after 2:00 p.m., officers responded to a head-on collision involving two vehicles on Highway 7, west of Tatlock Road.

The 20-year-old driver of one of the involved vehicles was pronounced deceased at the scene. A 42-year-old passenger from the same vehicle was transported to the hospital by ambulance and was later pronounced deceased.
