Temporary Closure of Almonte General Hospital Emergency Department

The Emergency Department (ED) at Almonte General Hospital (AGH) will be closed tonight – Tuesday, December 27th - as of 7 pm and is expected to re-open at 7 a.m. tomorrow – Wednesday, December 28th.  This temporary closure is due to a nursing staff shortage due to illness. The rest of the hospital is still open and caring for patients.

Impending Winter Storm Affects Childcare Programming

Due to anticipated poor weather conditions tomorrow, all local schools will be closed and all school transportation cancelled for Friday, December 23rd. As such, Mississippi Mills Daycare Services Before and After Care as well as the Infant, Toddler and Preschool Programs are cancelled.

WINTER STORM WARNING: PLAN & PREPARE

Mississippi Mills is currently under a Winter Storm Warning with the potential for extreme weather to sweep across the area beginning this evening. According to Environment and Climate Change Canada, we should be prepared to experience heavy snow, rain, freezing rain, ice pellets, wind gusts and blowing snow.  Environment and Climate Change Canada recommends postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve.
