Warden Steve Fournier (Drummond/North Elmsley Reeve) has proclaimed May 19 to 25, 2024 to be Paramedic Services Week in Lanark County.

The proclamation recognizes the importance of paramedics in the county and aims to raise community awareness and appreciation of the services they provide.

The Royal Canadian Legion Almonte Branch 240 will host their annual Battle of the Atlantic ceremony on Sunday, May 26.

A parade will form at the Almonte Legion (100 Bridge Street) at 1:30 p.m. The Legion Colour Party will lead the parade to the water side of the Mississippi River at 2 p.m., where the ceremony will take place.

A reception will follow at the Almonte Legion.

Lanark County OPP is investigating a home invasion in Almonte. 

Officers, including the Emergency Response Team and Canine Unit, were called to the residence on Smart Street shortly before 5 a.m. on May 20. 

It was reported that several people had broken into the home, assaulted the residents, caused damage to the home and vehicle, and then fled on foot. The victims did not suffer any serious injuries.
