Longtime Almonte residents and community volunteers Rhonda and Paul Virgin are the 2023 recipients of the 5th annual Bert McIntyre Memorial Award for Volunteerism.

Rhonda and Paul received the award June 26 during the Almonte General Hospital Fairview Manor (AGH FVM) Foundation’s Annual General Meeting. The award was presented by Hospital President and CEO, Brad Harrington, and outgoing Foundation Board Chair, Rob Scott.

Please be advised that Mill Street in Almonte, from Brae Street to Almonte Street, will be closed from 5-9 p.m. on Friday, June 28 for the Multicultural Potluck on Mill Street event.

The Mississippi Mills Municipal Office will be closed for Canada Day on Monday, July 1.

The Municipality's Building and Planning and Recreation and Culture Departments at Almonte Old Town Hall will also be closed July 1. 

There is no impact to the garbage and recycling schedule due to the holiday closure.

Our offices will re-open on Tuesday, July 2 at 8:30 a.m.

Activities begin at 4:30 p.m. outside the Stewart Community Centre with the popular RBC Barbecue, celebrating their 25th anniversary.

The Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit has started weekly water sampling of the area’s public bathing beaches for this year.  The results of the testing will appear on our website and social media starting on June 28, 2024 and be posted weekly until the end of August.

A Home Alone Safety for Kids course, delivered by Safety Tree Canada, will be offered in person at the Almonte Branch of the Mississippi Mills Public Library on Sunday, July 14.

The course runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at a cost of $40 per child.
