38 Main Street East Update - December 6, 2024

Since the last public update on November 12, work to stabilize the building at 38 Main Street to eliminate the public safety hazard.

Work has been progressing well, however, there have been delays with the removal of portions of the tower due to historical repairs to the tower. Flags have been lowered at all municipal facilities for the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women on December 6.

Honour the victims of the Polytechnique Montréal tragedy by wearing a white ribbon and reflect on violence against women in our society and the need to work together to bring about change.

Council and Committee of the Whole - December 10, 2024

Council and Committee of the Whole will hold their final regular meetings of 2024 on Tuesday, December 10, 2024.

Regular session is scheduled to start at 6 p.m., followed by Committee of the Whole. A Special Council Meeting will be held immediately afterward for approval of Committee of the Whole items.

Mississippi Mills Releases Final Abattoir Feasibility Study

Earlier this year, the Municipality of Mississippi Mills embarked on an Abattoir Feasibility Study prompted by concerns from local farmers regarding the lack of meat processing facilities locally.

The Municipality contracted Mallot Creek Group to undertake the study in early 2024, which explored the viability of a multi-species, provincially inspected slaughter and processing facility in Mississippi Mills. ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE As we approach the busy weekend of signature holiday events, please be advised that the following roads will be closed to vehicles - residents and travelers may experience disruptions: Friday, December 6 - Light up the Night! (Almonte)

Mill Street between Almonte Street to the west and 42 Mill St to the east will be closed 12 p.m. to 11 p.m. During this period, all of Mill Street will be closed between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m.

Opening last night’s meeting was a delegation from Habitat for Humanity Greater Ottawa CEO Sara Cooper who provided insight into the organization’s affordable housing efforts and mortgage model.
