Municipal Office Closures - Good Friday and Easter Monday

The Mississippi Mills Municipal Office, will be closed Good Friday (Friday, March 29) and Monday, April 1 for Easter.

The Municipality's Building and Planning and Recreation and Culture Departments at Almonte Old Town Hall will also be closed on these days. 

Offices will re-open on Tuesday, April 2 at 8:30 a.m.

For your convenience,  there is a mail slot located to the left of the Municipal Office entrance (3131 Old Perth Road) to drop off payments and other documents.

Changes to Garbage & Recycling Schedule - Good Friday

Please be advised that if your regular garbage/recycling collection is Fridays, this week it will be collected on Saturday, March 30 due to Good Friday.

Also, a second container may be placed out for pickup at curbside without a bag tag affixed to it, during collections taking place the week immediately following Easter Monday.

Total Burn Ban in Effect – March 25, 2024

The Mississippi Mills Fire Department (MMFD) has changed the Municipality’s open air burning status to a Level 5 – Total Burn Ban due to the current dry conditions. This will remain in effect until further notice.

PLEASE NOTE: All open air fires are prohibited during a fire ban, even for those who have an open air fire permit. This ban applies to all types of burning, including campfires and fireworks.

Please use extreme caution when discarding cigarettes.

Almonte Walk of the Cross – Good Friday, March 29

The Walk of the Cross is an ecumenical gathering of Almonte and area's Christian communities on Good Friday, March 29, 2024 at 12 p.m. This event was begun in 2010 and is hosted each year by one of the local churches.

This year the walk will begin by gathering on the steps of Almonte Old Town Hall (14 Bridge Street). A cross will be carried, short readings and the Scripture will be read at each stop. Symbols are placed on the cross at each stop telling the story of Christ's crucifixion.
