Blakeney Bridge to be closed for engineering investigation starting Jan. 23

Media release from Lanark County:

Blakeney Bridge in Mississippi Mills will be closed daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the week of Jan. 23 to accommodate drilling required for the foundation design of the new bridge.

The bridge consists of three structures crossing the Mississippi River between Almonte and Pakenham and is located on Blakeney Road just west of Blakeney.

Travellers can bypass the bridge by detouring north through Pakenham to Kinburn Side Road or south through Almonte to Martin...

Forecasted Rain and Above Normal Temperatures Could Increase Flows and Cause Unstable Ice Conditions

December 31, 2022 —With warmer temperatures and rainfall forecasted for today and into next week across the Mississippi and Carp River watersheds, flows and levels are anticipated to increase. 

Large river systems and inland lakes are not expected to flood at this time, although, ice jams can form along the river. This can cause water levels to rise quickly without warning. Temporary Closure of Carleton Place Hospital Emergency Department: January 1, 2023

The Emergency Department (ED) at Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital (CPDMH) will close at 9 p.m. today – Sunday, January 1st. It will re-open at 7 a.m. tomorrow – Monday, January 2nd.  This temporary closure is due to a shortage of nursing staff. The rest of the hospital is still open and caring for patients.
