1 in 7 Ontarian's, and 42% of people over 65 years of age, have a disability.

The European Gypsy Moth – It’s here!

There have been several sightings of the tiny gypsy moth caterpillars in Mississippi Mills over the past week. If you haven’t seen them take a close look at a tree, unfortunately they are everywhere! The European gypsy moth is an invasive and destructive pest that can pose a risk to deciduous and coniferous tree species.

The Municipality of Mississippi is monitoring the situation. While it is disappointing to see the leaves disappear, we believe there is no need to panic. Experts agree nature...

Splash Pad in Gemmill Park

Our Community Splash Pad WILL Open Tomorrow

In yesterday’s announcement we let you know the splash pad would remain closed this weekend. This decision was made in line with the information we had from the province.

We have since confirmed on the Province of Ontario’s website that their ban on splash pads has been updated since the Thursday announcement. Splash Pads have been moved to “before” step 1 category meaning they are now permitted.

This came as a surprise late on Friday evening. There is work involved in opening for the season....

“COOL” UPDATE: May 22nd Noon - Splash Pads have been moved to the permitted category by the province. Staff are preparing and our Gemmill Park Splash Pad will open Sunday 9:00am!

Mississippi Mills Emergency Management and Municipal Operations met to review the Province of Ontario’s New Three Step Roadmap and potential impacts on Municipal facilities to determine which services could be available for this holiday long weekend. Council received a delegation by John Miotla to relocate the Inferno Jr Hockey Club to Almonte. The team is currently based out of Carp and is exploring the opportunity to relocate to Almonte. If the Jr. C team moves, home games will be Saturdays at 7 p.m.
