Public Notice: Name Correction, Laroque Street

During the registration of the Mill Run Subdivision, the spelling of “Laroque” Street, was incorrect.  To honor the veterans whom the street was named after, it is being recommended to Council that the correct spelling “LaRocque” Street be registered.

Official Bicentennial Tree Available Through Home Hospice North Lanark

The Municipality of Mississippi Mills is teaming up with Home Hospice North Lanark (HHNL) as part of their annual tree fundraiser by launching an official Bicentennial tree.

The “Autumn Blaze Maple” is a hybrid of the red maple and the silver maple, both native to North America. They mature quickly and can grow as much as two feet per year under the right conditions. A limited number are available for purchase through the HHNL’s website, https://trees.hhnl.ca/.

The Pakenham Santa Claus Parade will proceed as planned! The forecast is calling for rainy and windy conditions, so please dress accordingly.

Festivities get underway at 1:00 PM and this year’s theme is Christmas Movies. Tonight’s Light Up The Night kicks of a series of festive activities planned for Mississippi Mills this weekend.

Tomorrow is the Pakenham Santa Claus Parade scheduled for a 1:00 PM start. We are aware of a Special Weather Statement that’s calling for high winds – while we aren’t anticipating having to cancel the parade, please be advised that this is a possibility – everyone’s safety is our top priority.

Giving Tuesday is the world’s largest generosity movement; created in 2012, it encourages people to do good by inspiring them to give, collaborate and celebrate generosity.

Temporary Closure of Almonte General Hospital Emergency Department

The Emergency Department (ED) at Almonte General Hospital (AGH) will be closed tonight as of 5 pm and is expected to re-open at 7 a.m. tomorrow – Wednesday, November 30th.

This temporary closure is due to a nursing staff shortage due to illness. The rest of the hospital is still open and caring for patients.
