It is with sadness that I share that Bruce Monteith, former Ramsay Councillor, passed on Thursday, July 6th, 2023. 

From 1998-2003 Mr. Monteith served as a Ramsay Ward Councillor, and from 2000-2003 represented Mississippi Mills at Lanark County Council. Prior to amalgamation, he served as the Chief Building Official.

Municipal Off-Leash Dog Park Pilot Project Launched

Due to growing support from the community, the Municipality of Mississippi Mills is undertaking a dog park pilot project.

This summer, the Municipality will offer a temporary space, the Snedden-Casey Ball Field, located on Ann Street, as an off-leash dog park. The large, levelled area is fenced with adjacent parking. Signage with rules has been posted on the site and a dispenser for dog bags has also been placed at the location.

Cooling Centers Open in Municipality during Heat Warning

Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for the region, in effect Tuesday, July 4 to Thursday, July 6.

Maximum temperatures are expected to reach low 30s, but with the Humidex it could feel more like low 40s.  

The Municipality of Mississippi Mills reminds residents who need to escape the heat that our facilities are open during business hours to cool down:

  • John Levi Community Centre (Almonte) – Monday to Friday: 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Final 2023 Tax Bills

The Municipality of Mississippi Mills would like to advise property owners that the final tax bills have been mailed. The first installment will be due on July 27, 2023 and the second installment is due on September 28, 2023.

We ask that all property owners update us with any changes to mailing addresses, including P.O. Boxes and Rural Route numbers.
