This has been a hard week. We learned from the Leeds Grenville & Lanark District Health Unit that there is an outbreak of COVID-19 in our community. The outbreak stemmed from exposure at a social gathering. The virus has now spread into local businesses, workplaces, recreational sports teams, childcare centres and families. As cases continue to rise in our community, we are reminded just how easily this tenacious virus spreads from person to person.

Mississippi Mills Facilities Closed to Help Stop the Spread

As a result of the recent Covid-19 outbreak that has been confirmed in our region, Mississippi Mills is working with the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark Public Health Unit (LGLDHU) on necessary measures to help stop the spread.Due to the high level of community transmission, the Municipality has agreed to close certain public facilities. New Variant of COVID-19 found in LGL Region
The Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit was notified by Public Health Ontario that a resident of the area has been identified to have screened positive for a variant of concern (VOC). This is the first person in the community to have a COVID-19 variant of concern.

The Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit has detected a significant increase with 20 people infected with COVID-19 in the past 4 days in and around Pakenham, Almonte and Carleton Place. Public health has contacted all the newly infected people and their close contacts.
