I was born in Peterborough and grew up on a farm just outside of the city.
My husband, Mike Kehoe, and I married in 1984 and moved to Almonte in 1992 with our four young children - Emily, Gillian, Callaghan, and Liam Kehoe.
I worked part-time when the kids were young and started to get involved in the community through volunteering – first at school council and The Hub and growing to include dozens of events and organizations.
In 2003 I ran for Council for the first time and won! I love the public service role of Councillor and was happily re-elected in 2006 and 2014. I have always tried to be a responsive and respectful councillor, and to make a positive impact on the community.
As the children grew, I also took on full time employment and worked as the Community Coordinator for the Lanark County Planning Council for Children, Youth and Families. I worked as the interim Lanark Regional Director for the United Way until I joined the Lanark, Leeds, and Grenville Ontario Health Team in 2021 as a health planner, taking on a system transformation role, and am currently focusing on a mental health and addiction strategy.
I earned a BA from Concordia University (1987) and an MA from Carleton University (1992), a Social Media certificate from Algonquin College (2012) and trained as a Professional Facilitator (2015) which has allowed me to run my own active consulting business.
In my spare time, I love spending time with my family and doting on my three grandchildren, playing the bagpipes, reading, writing, and travelling. I remain an active volunteer with Puppets Up!, the Almonte Legion Pipe Band, the Scottish Society of Ottawa, the United Way East Ontario, and a few more.
I love Mississippi Mills because of the people who are so open and welcoming, and for the tremendous natural beauty. I am very keen to represent Almonte well in the 2022-2026 term as a Mississippi Mills Councillor, and I would love to hear you.
