A Water Safety Statement is to provide notice of high flows, unsafe banks, melting ice or other factors that could be dangerous for recreational users such as anglers, canoeists, hikers, children, pets, etc. Flooding is not expected.

This Water Safety Statement is an update to the Flood Watch for the Mississippi River watershed issued on April 28, 2026.

A routine test of the Alert Ready emergency alert system will take place on Thursday, May 7 at 1:55 p.m. The test alert will be broadcast on television, radio and compatible wireless devices.

Reduced load restrictions will be lifted as of Monday, May 4 in the Municipality of Mississippi Mills and across Lanark County.

A Flood Watch Statement indicates that flooding is possible in specific watercourses or municipalities. Municipalities, emergency services and individual landowners in flood prone areas should prepare.

This Flood Watch is an update to the Flood Warning for the Mississippi River Watershed issued on April 22, 2026.

Warmer temperatures and dry grass conditions mean grass fire season is now underway in Mississippi Mills. Due to current conditions, the Mississippi Mills Fire Department (MMFD) has moved the burn status to Level 2 – Moderate.
