Fall Watermain Flushing in Almonte Ward – September 14 to October 30, 2026

The Municipality of Mississippi Mills will be flushing watermains throughout Almonte Ward from September 14 to October 30, 2026, between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday to Friday.
This annual maintenance program helps remove sediment that can build up in watermains over time. Flushing is required under provincial regulations and helps maintain the quality of the Municipality’s drinking water system.
What to expect
During flushing, residents may experience:
- Temporary drops in water pressure
- Red or discoloured water
- Brief interruptions to normal water service
Water pressure should return to normal once flushing is complete in your area.
If your water becomes discoloured
If you notice red or discoloured water:
- Avoid drinking the water or washing laundry until it clears
- Wait 20-30 minutes to allow crews to finish flushing nearby
- Run one cold water tap for several minutes until the water runs clear
Please note that discoloured water may occur near the flushing area or in neighbourhoods several blocks away. The location and extend of discolouration can vary and cannot be predicted in advance.
Helpful tips
- Consider filling containers with drinking and cooking water before flushing begins each day
- Do not drink or wash laundry with red or discoloured water
