Public Notice – Blasting Operations at Hilan Village Development

The Municipality of Mississippi Mills has been advised by Westview Projects, the developer of the Hilan Village subdivision, that blasting operations will take place at the site on Carss Street in the coming weeks.

Before blasting begins, some nearby homeowners may be contacted to arrange a pre-blast survey. Westview Projects has informed the Municipality that the surveys will be completed by Blastek Group. Please be aware that the Municipality does not have a role in the pre-blast surveys. Pre-blast surveys are common practice when there are nearby developments. Following the pre-blast surveys, notice will be provided to properties within the blasting area.

All blasting work will be carried out in accordance with the Ontario Provincial Standard Specification 120, Use of Explosives (OPSS.MUNI.120). Residents living up to one kilometre from the site may hear the blasts and feel vibrations while the work is taking place. Feeling vibrations during controlled blasting is common.

Once the blasting schedule has been confirmed by Westview Projects, an update with the expected start date and how long the work will last will be provided.
