Menzie Street in Almonte will be fully closed from June 8 to 21, 2026, to accommodate construction of parking and sidewalks for the new Mississippi Mills Childcare Services facility.
Effective June 4, Mississippi Mills Fire Department (MMFD) has raised the burn risk to Level 4 (Extreme Risk – Supervised Campfires Only) due to current dry conditions.
The Mississippi Mills Fire Department (MMFD) has raised the burn risk to Level 3 (High Risk) due to dry conditions. The Ministry of Natural Resources' forest fire danger rating for our region is also elevated.
Residents are urged to use extreme caution when burning. Have extinguishing agents readily available.
An active 2026 burn permit is required before any open air burning. Permit holders must call the burn permit line (613-706-4004) to activate their permit prior to each burn.
Reminder: Brush, drum, and windrow fires not permitted between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. (April 1 – October 31).
The County of Lanark and participating municipalities intend to utilize Wagar & Corput Weed Control Inc. to control noxious wild parsnip along rural roadsides within the County of Lanark.
The Municipality of Mississippi Mills (Municipality) is conducting a Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA) study for the proposed expansion of the existing Gemmill’s Bay Wastewater Pumping Station (GBPS) and Mississippi Mills Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP).
A Normal status indicates that no flood conditions exist. However, even during Normal conditions, the inherent risk to personal safety associated with flowing water still exists.

Lanark County will begin construction on the second phase of the Five Span Bridge Rehabilitation Project in Pakenham on Monday, May 11, 2026. Due to the complex nature of the work, a full road closure will be in effect at the bridge location for the duration of the project, which continues until November.
