Additional Sanitary Sewer Flushing Work Begins October 26

The Municipality of Mississippi Mills Roads and Public Works Department is continuing the 2026 Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation Program, part of our ongoing efforts to improve the condition and performance of aging sanitary sewer infrastructure and reduce inflow and infiltration within the sewer system.
As part of this program, the Municipality is using Cured-In-Place Pipe (CIPP) technology, an innovative rehabilitation method that renews sewer pipes from the inside without excavation. This approach minimizes disruption to residents and roadways while extending the service life of sanitary sewers by more than 50 years.
Preparation work underway
Beginning this week, the Municipality's contractor, Clean Water Works Inc., will be carrying out preparation work in advance of sewer lining installation, starting on October 26. Activities include:
- Flushing and cleaning sanitary sewer mains
- CCTV inspections and measurements to assess pipe conditions

The following locations will be impacted by preparation and rehabilitation activities:
- Martin Street North (Augusta Street to Teskey Street)
- Almonte Street (Farm Street to Mill Street)
- Martin Street North (Ottawa Street to Princess Street)

- Project duration: Approximately two weeks to complete all locations

Important information for residents
High-pressure water jetting will be used to clean sewer mains before rehabilitation begins. In some cases, this process may cause temporary air pressure fluctuations within household plumbing systems.
To help prevent inconvenience, residents are encouraged to:
- Keep toilet lids closed during flushing activities
- Cover floor drains where possible
- Contact Roads and Public Works immediately if unusual odours, gurgling noises, or water backup are experienced
We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we complete this important infrastructure improvement project.
