Mississippi Mills Council passed a proclamation at their April 23, 2024 meeting to declare May 5, 2024 as World Pulmonary Hypertension Day. Almonte Old Town Hall and the Falls will also be illuminated in purple on May 5 in recognition of World PH Day.
The main portion of work for the renovations to the Almonte Cenotaph has been completed. Further work will continue over the next few weeks, focusing on cleaning the Cenotaph structure and repainting the names.

Marked annually in Canada on April 28, the National Day of Mourning is dedicated to remembering those who have lost their lives, suffered injury or illness on the job, or experienced a work-related tragedy. In 2022, there were 993 workplace fatalities recorded in the country, according to the Association of Workers’ Compensation Boards of Canada.
Mississippi Mills Fire Department (MMFD) has introduced Mississippi Mills Community Connect, a platform designed to increase emergency preparedness and response. Community Connect is a free, secure and easy to use portal that allows residents and business owners to voluntarily share critical information with MMFD that will assist emergency responders in the event of an emergency.
Please be advised that the reduced load restrictions will be lifted for the Municipality of Mississippi Mills, effective Monday, April 29.
