Downtown Almonte Revitalization Update

You may have seen some construction signs popping-up around Almonte. Final preparations are being made for the Downtown Revitalization project that is schedule to begin this spring. Construction will begin in April and continue until late summer 2023.

March 16, 2022 —With above seasonal daytime temperatures and several millimetres of rain forecasted over the next few days, the Mississippi Valley Conservation Authority (MVCA) is reminding residents that no ice is safe ice. Runoff amounts may result in higher water levels in area creeks and streams.

Highlights of the March 15, 2022 Council Meeting
Council welcomed the public back to the gallery at their March 15th meeting. As the province moves forward with the provincial re-opening, the municipality has also started to open council chambers to the public, requiring pre-registration due to limited seating. It is with great sadness that I share the passing of Retired Fire Chief Art Brown. Art passed away peacefully on Friday, March 11th, surrounded by his wife and family.
For over 45 years, Art served our community as a dedicated member of the Almonte, Almonte & Ramsay, and Mississippi Mills Fire Departments. Starting as a volunteer in 1969, he moved up the ranks from Firefighter to Lieutenant to Captain, and in 1983 was promoted to Deputy Chief. In 1997, Art was...
