The following is part three of a three-part series about homelessness in Lanark County.

As homelessness continues to increase in rural communities, the effects can be wide reaching.

Council and Committee of the Whole will hold its regular meetings Tuesday, September 1, 2026. 

During last night’s meeting, Council received an update from Tim Woods, Coordinator of the Lanark County Business Retention and Expansion (BR+E) Program. The program was recently launched to help local businesses grow, stay competitive and overcome challenges.

The following is part two of a three-part series about homelessness in Lanark County.

Homelessness is a complex, multi-faceted and systemic challenge that requires collaboration between governments and service providers amid a range of limitations.

The Municipality of Mississippi Mills has been notified by Westview Homes Inc, the developer of the Hilan Village subdivision, that blasting operations on the site at Carss Street are anticipated to begin the week of September 2.  

A planned outage will take place in Almonte on September 2, 2026 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Municipality will be undertaking tree removal operations at the end of Carss Street on Wednesday, August 26. 

The following is part one of a three-part series about homelessness in Lanark County.

Homelessness has been increasing in Lanark County and across Ontario, particularly in rural Ontario. It is evolving, with visible homelessness becoming more apparent.

A public meeting will be held virtually via Teams on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at 4:30 p.m. to consider a proposed Minor Variance application under Section 45 of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, Chapter P.13.  

Lanark County has advised the Municipality that access to the Five -Span Bridge Park will be temporarily closed on Wednesday, September 2.
