Mississippi Mills Drinking Water System Q4 2023 Update

Highlights

Staff responded to several customer service inquiries this quarter and repaired three watermain breaks. With the onset of winter weather, early in Q4 staff installed hydrant markers to ensure that hydrants are visible for emergency and snow removal crews.

The monthly operating limit is the legislative limit for our drinking water system. The average monthly consumption during Q4 was approximately 39% of the operating limit.

Please be advised of a temporary reduction of the speed limit on Main Street in Almonte, specifically between Martin Street and Union Street.

In accordance with the delegated authority granted to the Director of Roads and Public Works, effective February 13, 2024, the new temporary speed limit for the street will be 30 km/h.

Main Street Reopened to Alternating Two-Way Traffic – Temporary Traffic Lights Installed

The Municipality of Mississippi Mills has reopened Main Street to alternating two-way traffic, effective February 13, 2024.

Following the completion of temporary stabilization works at 38 Main Street East (Dungarvon Building), the exclusionary zone has been reduced to allow for the opening of one lane. To permit both eastbound and westbound traffic to use this lane, it will be open with temporary traffic lights to facilitate alternating two-way traffic. Union Street North will remain closed...

Aquatic Reimbursement Program Resumes February 20, 2024

The Municipality's Aquatic Reimbursement Pilot Program is returning February 20, 2024.

This program provide residents of Mississippi Mills with reimbursement for the difference between resident and non-resident fees charged for the use of aquatic programs in Carleton Place, Arnprior or West-Ottawa.

Receipts dating back from January 1, 2024 are eligible to be submitted for reimbursement once the pilot program reopens.

Mississippi Mills Organizations to Receive Over $40,000 in 2024 Municipal Grants Program

Mississippi Mills will distribute over $40,000 to community groups and organizations in 2024 through the Municipal Grants program.

Council approved the 2024 allotments during their February 6 meeting in the amount of $42,550. In the 2024 budget, Council increased funding for the annual grant program by $8,137.70 (26%) over 2023.
