Did you know that vision disabilities reduce a person’s ability to see clearly? Very few people are totally blind. Many have limited vision such as loss of peripheral or central vision, where others can only see outlines of objects or the direction of light.

Here are some tips to help people who are vision impaired:

Council has proclaimed June as National Indigenous History Month in the Municipality of Mississippi Mills.

The proclamation was made during the May 21, 2024 Council meeting.

In addition to declaring June as National Indigenous History Month, Council also proclaimed June 21, 2024 as National Indigenous Peoples Day.

Did you know that hearing loss can cause problems in distinguishing certain frequencies, sounds or words and like most disabilities has a wide variety of degrees?

Here are some tips to help people who are deaf or hard of hearing:

Pride Flag Raising at Mississippi Valley Textile Museum – June 1, 2024

The Pride Flag will be raised at the Mississippi Valley Textile Museum on Saturday, June 1 at 1 p.m.

The flag raising will be held in conjunction with Lanark County Wide Pride Committee’s Drive-Out Pride Parade festivities throughout the county. The parade leaves from Almonte and will travel to Carleton Place and Smiths Falls for flag raisings, continuing on to the Perth parade at 3:30 p.m., beginning at the Stewart School. It will be followed by a Community Fair in Last Duel Park at 4:30 p.m.
