Aquatic Reimbursement Pilot Program Now Open

Council officially endorsed the continuation of the Mississippi Mills Aquatic Reimbursement Pilot Program for 2024 during the February 20 Council meeting. 

This program provides residents of Mississippi Mills with reimbursement for the difference between resident and non-resident fees charged for the use of aquatic programs (public swim fees, swim lessons, aquafit and similar programs) at municipal facilities in Carleton Place, Arnprior or West Ottawa.

He earned his B.Sc. from the University of Guelph and completed a career working for the Canadian Food Inspection Agency where he was a specialist in the assessment of risks to Canada’s food supply posed by invasive plants.

During last night’s meeting, Council heard a delegation from Danielle Shewfelt with the Leeds, Grenville & Lanark District Health Unit, who is the Municipal Public Health Nurse Liaison. The role will help support and work with Municipalities to strengthen policies and by-laws surrounding alcohol, smoking, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion; adapt and strengthen strategic and Official Plans; and identify community strengths and health priorities through data collection and surveys.

34th Senior Shuffleboard Tournament Held February 20

The 34th annual Senior Shuffleboard Tournament was held on Tuesday, February 20 in the upper hall of the John Levi Community Centre in Almonte.

The tournament ran from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. with 40 participants. The 2024 winners, pictured above, receiving their trophy from Marilyn Snedden are: Marion Armstrong and Dale Moores.

Public Notice – Reduced Load Weights on All Municipal Roads

Take notice that reduced load restrictions - five (5) tonnes per axle - will be in force on all municipal roads effective Tuesday, February 27, 2024.

The reduced load period is necessary for the protection of all municipal roads which are susceptible to damage during the spring thaw.

The restriction will be removed when the likelihood of road damage has diminished.
