On January 10, 2021 a fire in Oxford Mills claimed the lives of four adults.  This week we learned of another fire tragedy in the City of Toronto.  These fires have caused families to experience significant loss, the communities lost neighbours and close friends, and emergency services workers will be forever marked with the memories of these unfortunate events.

Council began with the Annual Dedication to Indigenous Peoples. Algonquin Elder Larry McDermott from the Shabot Obaadjiwan First Nation was invited to address Council.  Respecting Indigenous protocol, Mayor Lowry offered tobacco to Elder McDermott in request for the smudging ceremony and for his guidance to Council. Elder McDermott presided over a sacred ceremony which included smudging before Mayor Lowry officially acknowledged the traditional unceded territory of the Algonquin Anishinaabe. In...

The Council meeting, including the Public Meeting for OPA 22, and Committee of the Whole meeting, starting  tonight, January 26, 2021 at 6pm, will be held virtually using new technology.

We ask for people's patience as we try to improve access and engagement opportunities while abiding by the Province issued Stay at Home order.
