Public Skating

Skating is a great way to get some exercise. Whether you are young, old, or in-between, why not get out and have some fun? Skating is offered in both Almonte and Pakenham arenas. Each location is equipped with change rooms and washrooms facilities.

Skate sharpening is available at the John Levi Community Centre in Almonte, with hours posted at the arena.

Almonte: September 26, 2026 - March 31, 2027
Pakenham: September 12, 2026 - March 31, 2027

Public Skating Rules

Helmets are recommended for all skaters
Skate at a safe speed, in the same direction as other skaters
Games, tag, rough play and speed skating are not permitted
Respectfully leave the middle ice surface for children and less confident skaters
Report all accidents or injuries to the on-site supervisor
Children must be supervised by a responsible person
Only persons wearing skates will be permitted on the ice surface
Only CSA approved skating aids are permitted on the ice during Moms, Pops and Tots program
Pucks, balls or sticks are not permitted
Food and drinks are not permitted on the ice surface
Foul language or inappropriate behaviour will result in immediate removal from the facility

Season passes can be purchased at the arenas, at our public libraries, and at the Recreation and Culture Department at Almonte Old Town Hall (second floor).

If you would like to volunteer to help maintain these valuable outdoor rinks, please email programs@mississippimills.ca.

Please note, outdoor rinks are unsupervised and should only be used if conditions permit. Helmets are strongly recommended. Use at your own risk.

Sponsor a Skate!

Sponsoring a skate is a great way to promote your group or business to the community. Skate sponsors receive promotion through social media, posters, digital signage and more, plus the opportunity to setup a promotional table at the event! The cost is only $186 +HST.

Available during Christmas Break, Family Day, March Break and PA Days in both Almonte and Pakenham arenas.
