Election Key Dates

The following are key dates for the 2026 Municipal/School Board Elections:

Nomination Period for Candidates

• May 1, 2026 to August 20, 2026 (9:00am to 4:30pm); and
• Nomination Day:  Friday, August 21, 2026 (9:00am to 2:00pm)

Certification of Nominations

• August 24, 2026 by 4:00pm

Official List of Candidates posted with any Declarations of Acclamation

• August 24, 2026 after 4:00pm

Third Party Advertising Registration Period

• May 1, 2026 to October 23, 2026 (9:00am to 4:30pm)

‘Lame Duck’ Period (Restricted Acts for Council – if applicable)

• August 21, 2026 at 2:00pm to November 14, 2026 at 11:59pm

Election signs are permitted in compliance with the following Election Sign Bylaws

• Mississippi Mills Bylaw 18-21 and Lanark County Bylaw 2023-16

  • September 8, 2026 to November 2, 2026 by 11:59pm

Preliminary List of Electors Released to the Public

• September 1, 2026

Voting Period for Electors

• Monday, October 19, 2026 at 10:00am to Monday, October 26, 2026 at 8:00pm

Term of New Council

• November 15, 2026 to November 14, 2030

Ending of Campaigns

• Candidate and Third Party Financial Reporting Deadline:  March 30, 2027 at 2:00pm
• Late Candidate and Third Party Financial Reporting (subject to $500.00 late filing fee):  May 1, 2023 at 2:00pm
