Residents are advised that flushing of the sanitary and storm sewer system in certain areas has begun and may last until April 12, 2024.

The areas affected include areas north of Queen Street and Ottawa Street, and the Island in Almonte.  The stormwater sewers in Appleton will also be affected by this work.

Mississippi Mills has retained Clean Water Works Inc. to complete these works. During this time there may be minor traffic impacts. Residents in the affected areas are advised to ensure all floor drains and plumbing traps are filled with water and all toilet seats are in the down position. This will help minimize the chance of odor issues and flushing ‘blowback.’

During this work, Clean Water Works will also be using an optic camera to assess the condition of our sewer systems. This will help staff prioritize future maintenance activities.
