Fire Department

The Mississippi Mills Fire Department (MMFD) is reminding residents of the Fire Ban that came into effect on April 4th.

The fire ban remains in effect throughout Lanark County.  The burn ban restricts all fires including campfires, burn barrels, chimeneas, brush piles and yard waste.  Cooking devices that are designed to cook food with wood pellets or charcoal, such as smokers or grills, are permitted for use.  Any cooking devices, outdoor fireplaces and fuel fired appliances that use propane or natural gas are also exempt from the burn ban.

MMFD plans to assess the burn ban Monday April 19th to determine the fire risk level.  Recent rain has improved the risk level in some areas.  However, MMFD will conduct an assessment to ensure municipal conditions are safe for burning before the ban is partially or totally lifted. Updates and the current burning status can be found at https://mm.burnpermits.com.  Questions regarding the burn ban or the status of a burn permit may be directed to MMFD by calling (613) 256-1589 or the Municipal Office at (613) 256-2064 during normal business hours.
