Mississippi Mills Bicentennial celebrations will shine a spotlight on Pakenham this August 18-20.

‘Come Home to Pakenham’ Weekend is three days of jam-packed activities highlighting all picturesque Pakenham has to offer. There is truly something for everyone! Check out the full schedule below. All activities take place in and around the Stewart Community Centre and Fred Millar Park.

Friday, August 18 (4 to 9 p.m.)

  • Craft Beer Festival (featuring Vodkow, Farmgate Cider, Cartwright Springs, Ridge Rock Brewing Co., Kin Vineyards and Cold Bear Brewing Co.)

  • Opening ceremonies at 6:30 p.m.

  • Pakenham History Pop-up Display

  • Fireworks at dusk 

Saturday, August 18 (11 a.m. to 4 p.m.)

  • T-ball at 11 a.m.

  • Men’s and women’s fastball games from 1 to 4 p.m.

  • Kids’ yard games, including a bouncy castle

  • Skateboard demonstrations (be sure to bring your own board)

  • Pakenham History Pop-up Display

  • Almonte Civitan Barbecue and more!

  • Family Dance (6 to 11 p.m.) featuring Mike Ryan & Friends with opening act Junkyard Symphony. Tickets are $10 (available at the door). Kids under 16 get in free. Dances and celebrations were an important part of life 200 years ago. Pick your favourite era if you wish, and don your fashion and finery.

Sunday, August 20 (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.)

  • Community Paddle at Pakenham Beach (10 a.m. to 1 p.m.). Bring your kayak, canoe or paddleboard and float down the river!

  • Pakenham History Pop-up Display

  • Ecumenical Service at St. Andrew’s United Church (11 a.m.)

  • Antique Car Show (12 to 4 p.m.)
