Have you heard about the Mississippi Mills Neighbourhood Micro Grants Program? They offer you a chance to connect with your community right where you live – your own neighbourhood!

Knowing your neighbours helps increase quality of life, enhances safety and security and fosters a stronger sense of belonging. Mississippi Mills recognizes the value of building an inclusive and welcoming community.

Applications are now being accepted for the 2024 intake of the annual program. The Municipality has committed $3,600 this year for micro grants.

How does the program work? Micro grants of up to $200 are available to residents for initiatives that connect and engage neighbourhood residents of all ages and abilities; share residents’ skills and knowledge within the community; build a sense of ownership and pride; and respect and celebrate diversity.

Examples include:

  • Block parties to introduce new neighbours

  • Neighbourhood clean-up events

  • Free yoga lessons for the community

  • Historical tours of your neighbourhood

  • A birthday party for the oldest person on your street

  • Storytelling projects that involve seniors and youth

The possibilities are endless!

Please submit your completed application form to the Recreation and Culture Department via email to programs@mississippimills.ca or drop it off at the Almonte Old Town Hall (14 Bridge Street, second floor).

Please note that submission of an application does not guarantee the application will be awarded.

The deadline for submissions is June 15, 2024
