Eight people stand against a black backdrop holding awards

Mississippi Mills has no shortage of citizens who enrich life in our community. Now, it’s their time to shine!

The Municipality of Mississippi Mills is pleased to announce the nomination period is open for the 2024 Mississippi Mills Community Awards.

These awards were developed in 2022 as a way to honour individuals for their contributions to life in the Municipality. Council recognizes that the outstanding efforts, actions and achievements of these individuals significantly and positively impact the social, cultural or civic life of Mississippi Mills and its residents.

For consideration, all 2024 nominations must be received by 12 p.m. (noon) on Monday, April 29.

This year, Council approved updated criteria for the Community Awards, along with the creation of two new award categories – Business Champion and Welcoming Community Champion.

Nomination forms must be accompanied by a minimum of two testimonial letters from individuals (other than the nominator) who have direct knowledge of the value and impact of the nominee’s achievements and who support the nomination. No anonymous testimonials will be accepted.

A Community Awards Selection Committee will complete a thorough review of all nominations once the nomination period has closed.

After reviewing and considering all applications by the committee, staff will then submit an information report with recommendations to Council at an in-camera meeting on May 7.

After Council receives the report as information, staff will contact recipients via their nominee(s).

Recipients will receive their awards during a reception on May 30 in the Ron Caron Auditorium at the Almonte Old Town Hall.
