The Mississippi Mills Fire Department (MMFD) will continue operations at a barn fire on Appleton Side Road today.  Please avoid the area of Appleton Side Road between Old Almonte Road and River Road as crews are expected to be on scene through most of the day.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Covid-19 Exposure at Almonte District High School

Parents/guardians, students and staff at Almonte District High School are receiving written notification today concerning two possible separate exposures to COVID-19.


The Leeds, Grenville & Lanark District Health Unit has already been in contact with all individuals who have had high-risk exposure and those people have isolated. The health unit will continue to closely monitor the situation and are available to answer parent/guardian questions.

No change to the school schedule or daily operations...

The Mississippi Mills Fire Department (MMFD) responded to a structure fire on Appleton Side Road at approximately 2:30 am Wednesday, October 21.  Firefighters arrived at a fully involved barn fire that contained hay and equipment.  There are no injuries and heavy equipment is being used to help extinguish the fire.

MMFD was supported by fire departments from Beckwith, Ottawa, Drummond/North Elmsley Tay Valley, Lanark Highlands and Carleton Place.

Budget Survey
