Municipal Closures

As a result of recent Provincial government shutdown announcements, the municipality has a number of closures and capacity reductions. These closures and restrictions will be in place until the province lifts the shutdown.

The following facilities will be closed effective January 5, 2022 at 12:01 am:

  • Almonte Community Centre
  • Almonte Curling Club
  • Stewart Community Centre
  • Ramsay and Pakenham Municipal Garages – closed to the public
  • Almonte Old Town Hall (including public washrooms)

The following facilities will have limited capacity and may have restrictions of use:

Municipal Services

Please note that the Municipal Building on Old Perth Road will be open for appointment only no drop-ins are permitted. To make an appointment please contact the municipal office at 613-256-2064 or lhorton@mississippimills.ca .

The majority of municipal employees will be working from home, please contact municipal employees by e-mail for service. Any service requests or questions that can be addressed through e-mail or over the phone are preferred. 

Additional service information:

  • Water sample testing – bottles can be picked up and dropped off at the Almonte Branch of the library.
  • Bill payment – Please pay bill online or through your bank, if unable an appointment is required
  • Commissioner of Oaths – appointments are required please contact 613-256-2064 or lhorton@mississippimills.ca
  • Freedom of Information Requests – may be dropped off at the municipal office in the drop box or sent via e-mail to lhorton@mississippimills.ca please note that the $5 fee is still required and can be dropped off to the municipal office through the drop-box. The drop box is located outside of the main doors of the municipal office.
  • Planning applications and building permits/inspections – please contact the building department via e-mail at jrussell@mississippimills.ca or rsweeney@mississippimills.ca
  • Burning permits – please use the automated service by calling (613) 706-4004 if you are having issues with the burn permit number please contact the fire department via e-mail at fireadmin@mississippimills.ca
  • Snow clearing – service to continue as normal, please be sure not to park on the road and leave sidewalks clear.
  • Garbage collection – service to continue as normal.
  • Recreation and Culture Department – please contact recandculturedept@mississippimills.ca or telephone 613-256-1077 for further information. Please note there are capacity restrictions for events and all recreation facilities remain closed until further notice.
  • Council Meetings – please refer to the Municipal website for agendas and videos of these meetings.  Upcoming Committee of the Whole and Council meetings scheduled for January 11th and January 25th, 2022 will be virtual sessions.
