Sign on fence at ball diamond

Due to growing support from the community, the Municipality of Mississippi Mills is undertaking a dog park pilot project.

This summer, the Municipality will offer a temporary space, the Snedden-Casey Ball Field, located on Ann Street, as an off-leash dog park. The large, levelled area is fenced with adjacent parking. Signage with rules has been posted on the site and a dispenser for dog bags has also been placed at the location.

Residents are asked to please respect the following rules of the park, for the safety of your dogs(s), yourself, and others:

  • Use the off-leash area at your own risk.

  • Leash your dog while entering and exiting, and watch for other dogs.

  • Up-to-date rabies vaccination and municipal dog tags are required.

  • Please clean up after your dog.

  • Keep your dog within your sight and under verbal control.

  • Avoid bringing aggressive dogs into the park.

  • Dogs required by law to be leashed and muzzled must remain so.

  • No food (dog or human), glass containers, or toys.

  • Smoking is not permitted in the park.

  • Please prevent your dog from damaging property and digging holes.

  • Off-leash area users are subject to the Ontario Dog Owners’ Liability Act and the Municipality of Mississippi Mills By-laws. Owners will be held liable for all actions of their dogs.

A permanent location for the dog park is being considered through the Community Services Master Plan, currently underway.
