Press Release – Mississippi River Health Alliance

Thirty-two years ago, Lyman Gardiner and his wife Doris moved from Ottawa to Pakenham – and they’ve never looked back.

“We’ve raised our family along the Mississippi River and got involved in our community,” he says. “And we’ve encouraged our two children, who were both born at Almonte General Hospital, to do the same.”

As the new Chair of the Mississippi River Health Alliance (MRHA) Allied Boards, Lyman says giving back to his local hospitals just makes sense.

“It’s exciting to see the work of the Mississippi River Health Alliance move forward.  Our communities overlap and many people use both hospitals as they should. It’s great to see the benefits of working together.”

Lyman has more than 35 years of experience engaged as a public accountant. He is a Licensed Public Accountant and holds Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) and Chartered Business Valuator (CBV) designations. He joined the Allied Boards in 2018, was elected the first Treasurer of the Allied Boards and chaired the Finance, Resource & Audit Committee.

In his new role, Lyman will see two exciting capital projects come to fruition – the new Emergency Department in Carleton Place and the new CT Scanner in Almonte.

“The previous Chairs and Boards have done all the legwork before us and we will celebrate with them.”

Lyman says the Boards will also focus on financial challenges, lessons learned during the pandemic and human resources.

In addition to his MRHA volunteer work, Lyman sits on the Board of Directors for the Mississippi River Power Corporation and Pakenham Curling Club. He has recently re-discovered his love of snowmobiling, exploring trails throughout the region.
