MM Crest

On behalf of the Municipality of Mississippi Mills, I would like to thank Chief Brown, Deputy Chief Williams and the Mississippi Mills Fire Department for their response to a structure fire over the last days. A barn on Appleton Side Road storing 1500-2000 large round bales caught fire with the call coming in at 2:30am Wednesday October 21st.

I would also like to thank the Ocean Wave Fire Company from Carleton Place, the Beckwith Fire Department, the Lanark Highlands Fire Service, the Drummond/North Elmsley Tay Valley Fire Service and the Ottawa Fire Services for their support through mutual aid, as well as Cavanagh Construction for their assistance.

Firefighters spent many hours on Wednesday and Thursday to extinguish the fire.  We appreciate the dedication and commitment of the Fire Department to our community, which has once again been underscored.

As the impact of the pandemic continues to evolve and affect the community, I also want to acknowledge the added level of risk to the work of frontline workers like our firefighters. Their willingness to come to our aid has never wavered, as they continue to protect the residents and property in Mississippi Mills. For this, we as a community are very grateful.

My sincere thanks to each member of the Mississippi Mills Fire Department for your continued, dedicated service.

Mayor of Mississippi Mills
