At approximately 7:00 am this morning, the Mississippi Mills Fire Department (MMFD) responded to a structure fire at Lanark County Paramedic Service’s Almonte base.
Thanks to the MMFD’s swift response, the fire was quickly brought under control, preventing any damage to nearby homes and buildings in close proximity including the Mississippi Mills Childcare Centre, Fairview Manor and Almonte General Hospital. There were no injuries reported.
On behalf of Council and the Municipality of Mississippi Mills, I would like to thank Deputy Chief Hemsley and each member of the MMFD for their quick response. I also want to thank the Carleton Place Fire Department for their assistance, and to BBD&E Fire Department for being on standby.
As a community, knowing we can rely on your selflessness and dedication in situations like this is truly a comfort. We are grateful for your willingness to serve today, and every day.
