Highlights of the April 19th, 2022 Council Meeting

Last night’s Council meeting began with a delegation from community members Allan Goddard and Eileen Hennemann. They presented the idea of building a floral clock in the community,stating that the “timing” couldn’t be more perfect, with 2022 being the “Year of the Garden” and the Mississippi Mills Bicentennial coming in 2023.
The second delegation was from Joseph Princiotta, Owner of Princiotta Management Incorporated. Mr. Princiotta and his agent spoke to Council about his concept of a Dementia Care Village in Mississippi Mills.
Council directed staff to end the contract with our current insurance provider and execute a new contract with Desjardins Insurance. The new contract will result in annual savings of $107,194 which will be placed in reserves.
Council has requested that the Mississippi Valley Conservation Authority promote and deliver the Alternative Land Use Services (ALUS) program across Mississippi Mills. The ALUS program is a community-developed and farmer-delivered program that produces, enhances and maintains ecosystems services on agricultural lands. It is a voluntary program and is 100% funded by grants.
To end the meeting, Council proclaimed April 24-30th as Volunteer week recognizing the many ways that volunteers contribute to the quality of life in Mississippi Mills. A Mississippi Mills Volunteer Appreciation Reception is planned for Thursday, April 28th from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. at the Almonte Civitan Hall.

• Daycare Name Change
• 2022 MicroSurface Program Award of Tender
• Parking Bylaw Amendment
• OPRC Promissory Note Renewal
• Vaccination Policy
• Mississippi River Power Corporation: Amended Bylaw, Unanimous Shareholder Declaration, and Corporate Resolutions
The municipal office at 3131 Old Perth Road is open to the public. Only one (1) person is permitted at the front desk at a time. Staff will continue to check emails and voice messages regularly to continue to serve residents; please allow additional time for a response.
Water samples can be dropped off at the Almonte Library branch. Payments and documents can continue to be dropped off in our secure dropbox/safe at the back of the municipal office.
