  • Spring Beautification Efforts in the Municipality

    The Beautification Department within the Municipality of Mississippi Mills has been busy with beautification efforts this spring to ensure plantings in the Municipality look their best. We’d like to thank Ramsay Creek, who has been working in partnership with the Municipality, and to recognize their work in helping beautify our community, including planting beds , including the area around the Almonte gateway sign and the beautiful hanging baskets, which were installed this week.

  • Summer Solstice Celebration – Thursday, June 20

    Mississippi Mills All My Relations is partnering with the Municipality of Mississippi Mills to host a Summer Solstice Celebration on Thursday, June 20 at Riverfront Park in Almonte, bringing together Indigenous and non-Indigenous people. This celebration, open to everyone in the community, will include Indigenous ceremony, music, jingle dancing, crafts, Inuit games and songs by Almonte’s Rhythm and Song!

    Seniors Month has been celebrated in the month of June since 1984, and this year marks 40. .

  • The Canadian Library Memorial Installation Ceremony – Saturday, June 15

    From Mississippi Mills All My Relations. Mississippi Mills All My Relations (MMAMR) is participating in the Canadian Library, a community-engaged art initiative of 8000 books to honour Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women and Girls and 2SLGBTQIA+ people.

  • Almonte Resident George Yaremchuk Presented with Culture Connector Award

    During the June 26 Lanark County Council meeting, Lanark County Warden Steve Fournier (Drummond/North Elmsley Reeve) presented Almonte Resident George Yaremchuk with the new Culture Connector Award, which was launched by the Local Immigration Partnership – Lanark & Renfrew Counties in 2023 as part of the Culture Connect initiative. The award celebrates and recognizes individuals and organizations in the Ottawa Valley that have shown exceptional dedication and support to newcomers as they adjust to their new lives.

  • Pakenham Public School Students Showcase History Through Real-World Learning Project

    Learning about Pakenham’s history is now even easier, thanks to local students. Students in Grade 4, 5 and 6 classes at Pakenham Public School recently unveiled a Real-World Learning Project they worked on throughout the school year.
