Province investing in local programs and services that help deliver critical community programming across Ontario

Press Release – John Jordan, MPP for Lanark-Frontenac-Kingston

John Jordan, MPP for Lanark-Frontenac-Kingston, announced today that the Ontario government is providing 7 non-profit organizations and municipalities in the riding with $658,500 in funding this year through the Ontario Trillium Foundation’s (OTF) Capital grant stream. This investment will help improve community spaces and expand access to local programs and activities.

“I’m proud to support these vital organizations in Lanark-Frontenac-Kingston through the Ontario Trillium Foundation Capital Grant,” said MPP Jordan. “By supporting critical infrastructure and community projects, we are helping organizations continue delivering the programs and services that improve quality of life for residents across our communities.”

Whether it’s purchasing equipment, building a new space or completing renovations, retrofits or repairs, these OTF Capital grants support projects that are making a difference.

The organizations receiving funding include:

  • The Town of Carleton Place will receive $200,000 over 12 months to replace an elevator, ensuring safe, reliable access to arena spaces and improving inclusion for people with disabilities, families and community users.
  • The North Lanark Agricultural Society will receive $87,400 over 12 months to install an AODA-compliant ramp, automatic door, lighting and pathway to provide equitable main-entrance access and eliminating barriers.
  • The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 395 in Lanark will receive $106,500 over 12 months to modernize its kitchen, restore meal programs and improve safety for veterans, seniors and the community.
  • BGC South East will receive $50,900 over 6 months to replace aging hot water heaters to ensure reliable operations and support year-round recreation, youth and community programs.
  • Mississippi Madawaska Land Trust will receive $88,500 over 12 months to improve access and reopen approximately 1.5km of trails at Byrne Big Creek Nature Preserve.
  • The Railway Museum of Eastern Ontario will receive $86,300 over 12 months to replace the roof.
  • The Town of Perth will receive $38,900 over 6 months to replace two aging boilers to support and sustain operations at the Perth & District Indoor Pool.

“This grant is truly transformative for the Railway Museum of Eastern Ontario. Replacing the roof will help protect this remarkable heritage building for generations to come, allowing us to continue sharing our community’s railway story while creating new experiences for visitors. We are incredibly grateful to the Ontario Trillium Foundation for investing in the preservation of this important piece of our history,” said Becky Allen, Executive Director of the Railway Museum of Eastern Ontario.

The Capital grant stream is part of the government’s plan to protect Ontario by investing in community infrastructure, supporting local organizations and creating the conditions for long-term economic growth and prosperity.

“The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 395 Lanark is grateful to receiving the Ontario Trillium Foundation Capital grant. The OFT grant will be used to renovate and modernize the Legion’s outdated kitchen, bring it up to today’s Health Unit Standards and provide much needed storage. New appliances, tables and chairs will also be acquired.  The renovation will allow the Legion to resume programs as well as create new programs where lunches, dinners or refreshments may be provided for the Legion’s Veterans, Members and the Community,” said Darleen Sargeant, President, Royal Canadian Legion Branch 395 Lanark.

“The Carleton Place Arena is a vital community space where residents and visitors connect, celebrate and build lifelong memories,” said Toby Randell, Mayor of the Town of Carleton Place. “By modernizing this facility with enhanced accessibility, we are removing physical barriers and ensuring that every single member of our community can fully and equally participate in our town’s civic and social life.”

“Non-profit organizations across Ontario are delivering critical programming that helps people train for new careers, stay active, learn new skills and connect with their communities,” said Stan Cho, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Gaming. “Our investment will help modernize and improve the spaces these organizations rely on so they can continue delivering the services that strengthen communities and drive local economic growth.”
