Please join us on Sunday, May 31 at 11 a.m. on the banks of the Mississippi River, next to Almonte Old Town Hall, for the Battle of the Atlantic ceremony.

We will honor the sailors, aviators, and merchant mariners who defended the North Atlantic during the Second World War. For 81 years, we have remembered their sacrifice and its lasting impact on the Navy we know today.

Canada's wartime leadership continues to inspire our Navy, which maintains strong partnerships nationally and globally, building on the legacy of those who served. The Battle of the Atlantic's lessons in readiness and innovation still guide our modern, combat-ready Navy as it protects Canada's sovereignty and prepares for future challenges.

The ceremony will be distinguished by the presence of several Naval and Air Force dignitaries who will join us to pay their respects.

We are also honored to welcome a true living link to our naval heritage. Joining from the Fairview Manor in Almonte is Commander John Chance, Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve (Retired). Commander Chance is 102 years old and is one of the last surviving Veterans of the Battle of Atlantic in Canada.
