Committees and Boards

Statutory Committees and Boards are required by provincial law. Their primary purpose is to ensure that the municipality follows specific laws and provide guidance on topics such as land use planning and enhancing the accessibility of public spaces. These committees help support good decision-making and ensure the municipality is open and accountable.

Accessibility Advisory Committee

The Accessibility Advisory Committee (AAC) advises and assists Council and staff in promoting and facilitating accessible services and facilities. This is achieved through the review of municipal policies, programs and services and the identification, removal and prevention of barriers faced by people with disabilities.

Heritage Advisory Committee

The Municipal Heritage Advisory Committee provides advice and assistance to Council, Municipal staff and private property owners on matters relating to the conservation of the community's cultural heritage assets.

Mississippi Mills Public Library Board

The purpose of the lobrary board is to govern the affairs of the public library in service to the community.

Property Standards and Committee of Adjustment Advisory Committee

This Committee serves two functions: the consideration of applications under Section 45 of the Planning Act; and consideration of appeals under the Property Standards By-law (by-law 03-35).

Who Can Attend Statutory Committee and Board Meetings?

Anyone is able to attend an advisory meeting. All meeting agendas, dates and times will be posted on the meeting calendar at least four days before each meeting. Please note that audience participation is not allowed unless you have been approved by the Clerk's department or by the committee as a delegation. Please visit our Speaking to Council page if you would like more information.

If you’re unable to attend an advisory meeting, don’t worry, all videos and meeting minutes will be posted on our website under meeting calendar.
