Committees and Boards

Statutory Committees and Boards are required by provincial law. Their primary purpose is to ensure that the municipality follows specific laws and provide guidance on topics such as land use planning and enhancing the accessibility of public spaces. These committees help support good decision-making and ensure the municipality is open and accountable.

Current Opportunities

Joint Lanark County 2026 Election Compliance Audit Committee

The Municipalities of Beckwith, Carleton Place, Drummond/North Elmsley, Lanark Highlands, Mississippi Mills, Montague, Perth, Smiths Falls, and Tay Valley are currently seeking interested applicants for appointment to the Joint Lanark County 2026 Election Compliance Audit Committee.

Applicants should possess accounting, auditing and legal experience.

The purpose of the Compliance Audit Committee is to:

Consider compliance audit applications made by electors and decide whether they should be granted or rejected
Appoint an auditor if the compliance audit applications is granted
Receive and consider the auditor's report
Decide whether to commence legal proceedings, if there is a contravention
Consider compliance audit reports prepared by the Clerk and decide whether to commence a legal proceeding against the contributor

Deadline to apply: Monday, March 30, 2026 at 12 p.m.

Who Can Attend Statutory Committee and Board Meetings?

Anyone is able to attend an advisory meeting. All meeting agendas, dates and times will be posted on the meeting calendar at least four days before each meeting. Please note that audience participation is not allowed unless you have been approved by the Clerk's department or by the committee as a delegation. Please visit our Speaking to Council page if you would like more information.

If you’re unable to attend an advisory meeting, don’t worry, all videos and meeting minutes will be posted on our website under meeting calendar.
