The incidences of gender-based violence are on the rise and the need for donations is high. Thinking outside of the box, Lanark County Interval House and Community Support (LCIHCS) has gone virtual.

Virtual Angel Tree Campaign

Their virtual Angel Tree website allows people to choose how they would like to support LCIHCS, whether by gift giving or monetary donations, from the comfort of their own home.

The Pakenham and District Civitan Club will be collecting cash and food donations along the route during the Santa Claus parade on December 2nd in Pakenham. The Scouts will be collecting cash and food donations along the parade route in Almonte on December 3rd.

Annual Stocking Drive 
Christmas Food Basket Campaign (Lions Club, Civitan Club and Carebridge Community Support)

Carebridge Community Support, in partnership with the Almonte Lions Club and Almonte Civitan Club, is once again collecting names of Mississippi Mills residents who need assistance this Christmas.

Registration is required to receive a Food Hamper - including all the items for a traditional Christmas dinner. The program launches on November 1, 2023. 

If you are in need or know a resident who is this Christmas, please register by emailing info@carebridge.ca stating “Food Basket”. Please include your name, address, telephone number, and the number of Adults and Children in the household or feel free to stop by Carebridge Community Support to fill out a form. Please ensure that the adults in the families are aware that the names have been referred.

Deadline for submitting names for a Christmas Food Basket is Friday, December 8, 2023.
Baskets will be distributed on Saturday Dec 16 starting at 9am and finishing before noon.

CASH or CHEQUE DONATIONS for the Food Hamper campaign can be made to the Almonte Lions Club or you can also donate online at www.facebook.com/AlmonteLionsClub.

The OPP and Lanark County Family and Child Services Angel Tree Program

The Angel Tree program in Lanark County and its neighboring areas is celebrating its 38th year with an extraordinary 840 angels, thanks to Lanark, Leeds, and Grenville Family and Children’s Services partnering with the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP). It continues to be a success, thanks to the generosity and Christmas spirit in Lanark County and the surrounding area. 

The “angels,” assigned to trees, represent children directly affiliated with the Lanark County Family and Child Services or other affiliated programs. The goal is to provide a Christmas gift to each child.

The Municipality of Mississippi Mills Angel Tree tags are available for pick up in two locations: the Municipal office (3131 Old Perth Rd.) as well as the Pakenham Library Branch (128 MacFarlane St.). Reminder: Gifts must be returned (preferably unwrapped, or in a gift bag) before Friday, December 1, 2023.

Home Hospice North Lanark Tree Fundraiser

Home Hospice North Lanark (HHNL) in partnership with Reid Gardens, Carleton Place, holds an annual Tree Fundraiser. It launches every year in November. Each purchase will support HHNL's ability to deliver comfort, compassion and support to people in our community.

Trees will be available for pick up at Reid Gardens, 140 Pick Road, Carleton Place in the spring (exact date and time to be determined).

 Cards and Letters for the Military

Once again, Kelly Church of Textile Traditions, 87 Mill Street, Almonte, will be collecting and mailing Christmas cards to military personnel serving away from home during Christmas.

Complimentary cards are available at the store.
All letters and cards need to be dropped off by December 2nd.

Kelly will cover postage.
