$2 Paper Billing Fee for Water and Tax Bills

Paper water bills will have a $2 fee starting in March 2026.

This $2 fee also applies to property tax bills, beginning in June 2026.

This fee helps cover the real costs of printing and mailing paper bills, such as paper, envelopes, and postage. It also cuts down on paper use, improves service, and is more reliable during mail disruptions.

Those who sign up for e-billing will not be charged the $2 fee.

Heritage Week - "Did You Know?" - Heritage Advisory Committee - February 20, 2026

This Heritage Week, we’re also highlighting the Heritage Advisory Committee (HAC), a group of passionate volunteers, appointed by Council, that help promote and protect Mississippi Mills’ rich cultural heritage.

The Heritage Advisory Committee is a Council-mandated committee established under the Ontario Heritage Act. It provides advice and assistance to Council, municipal staff, and property owners on matters related to the conservation of heritage buildings, landscapes, and districts across the municipality.

The Committee plays an important role by: 

  • Identifying and maintaining a list of properties with cultural heritage value, known as the Heritage Registry, 

  • Recommending the designation of heritage properties to Council under Parts IV and V of the Ontario Heritage Act, 

  • Providing guidance to heritage property owners on maintenance, preservation, and development practices that ensure long-term protection of heritage features, 

  • Approving major heritage permits for changes to designated properties such as alterations or additions, 

  • Reviewing Heritage Impact Statements and commenting on planning applications that may affect heritage resources, and 

  • Supporting and promoting heritage awareness in the community. 

Through its work, the Heritage Advisory Committee helps ensure that growth and change in Mississippi Mills respects the historic character and cultural significance of our community, now and into the future.
