From the Office of the Mayor – Giving Tuesday 2025

December 1, 2025 

On December 2, 2025, we mark Giving Tuesday, the world’s largest movement dedicated to generosity. Around the world, people are pausing today to give, to volunteer and to celebrate kindness. Here in Mississippi Mills, that spirit is alive every single day. 

I often reflect on our community’s “secret sauce”: the caring, big-hearted people who make this place extraordinary. Generosity is not confined to one day here – it is woven into the very character of our community. Whether through a friendly word of encouragement, a quiet act of service or a commitment to volunteerism, Mississippi Mills residents embody the spirit of giving.  

We are blessed with volunteer-driven, not-for-profit organizations whose contributions are vital. Their dedication and compassion are what make Mississippi Mills such a special place to call home. 

These groups rely on us – our time and our talents – to deliver programs and services that matter. They are the people packing Christmas baskets and hampers, baking pies for community dinners, calling someone who feels isolated, driving neighbours to medical appointments, welcoming visitors at our museums, or quietly donating to the hospital.  

On this Giving Tuesday, I invite you to consider how you can give back:

• Donate to local service clubs or charities
• Sign up to volunteer
• Celebrate the inspiring work of volunteers in Mississippi Mills
• Help spread the message of generosity  

It’s easy to forget how much you receive when you give. If you see volunteers from our service clubs or non-profits, take a moment to thank them – that simple gesture can mean so much. And if you’d like an introduction or suggestion on where your efforts could make the biggest impact, reach out! There are countless incredible organizations here in Mississippi Mills ready to welcome your time and talents.
