Flood Preparedness – Where to Find Updates, Sandbags and Resources

Piles of beige and white sandbags stacked on top of each other. A medium blue box with white text reads 'Flood warning issued - What you need to know.' The Municipality of Mississippi Mills logo is in the bottom right corner of the photo.

The Mississippi Valley Conservation Authority (MVCA) issued a flood warning for the Mississippi River watershed as of April 22. A flood warning means flooding is imminent or already occurring.

Mississippi Mills waterways form part of the Mississippi River watershed, which is monitored and managed by the MVCA. For the most accurate and up-to-date information on water levels and flood conditions in our community, please rely on MVCA updates.

Well water and localized flooding

Southeast Public Health advises residents whose wells have been directly affected by flooding to:

  • Boil water for at least one minute at a rolling boil before consuming, or
  • Use an alternate safe water source until testing confirms the water is safe to drink.

SEPH also recommends regular water testing, as heavy rain and snowmelt can impact drinking water quality.
